Pandits ridicule Malik's call for restoration of composite culture

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Kashmiri Pandits have expressed their surprise over the statement of JKLF supremo Yasin Malik who has decided to organise a meeting of prominent citizens in last week of next month to facilitate the return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to Valley.
Malik whose JKLF was brain behind the migration of Pandits from Valley after its activists indulged in selective killings of minority Hindus in Kashmir soon after the militancy started in the year 1989 and 90.

Ridiculing the statement of Malik various KP leaders in Delhi and Jammu have questioned the authenticity of what JKLF supremo said. They said how Malik is talking about the restoration of lost confidence of KPs in Muslim majority of Valley when his organisation was first militant outfit which shattered the confidence of the hapless Pandits who are now leading an exiled life for over last 20 years in different parts of the country.
The KPC a premier KP organisation which is vigorously taking the cause of Pandits settlement in Valley at a compact place has outrightly rejected Malik's contentions saying Pandits will never like to return at the mercy of Maliks and Geelanis who were responsible for the present plight of the displaced Pandits after forcing them to leave their homes and hearts in Valley by indulging in selective killings, pasting of threatening posters and giving advertisements in daily papers asking the minorities to leave Kashmir.

KPC secretary RL Raina while reacting to the statement said why did not the idea of composite culture came to the JKLF leader when he made the three IAF officers a selective target who were posted in Kashmir in 1990 or when his organisation indulged in killing of members of Hindu minority community in other parts of Kashmir.
“How can we forget the cold blooded murder of hundreds members of the community by the terrorist mostly owing allegiance to Yasin Malik's JKLF''. Even the women folk and children were not spared, said Kundan Kashmiri president KPC. The massacres of Sangrampora, Wandhhama, Telvani, Nadimarg and Chattisingpora are still haunting us and no community member can forget the same, he added.
The only solution to KPs problems was carving out of a separate homeland in Valley as demanded by the community. In case the Government has any problem is conceding this demand it should invite the community leaders to negotiating table and discuss the issue with them, said Kashmiri who strongly advocated for the settlement of Pandits at a concentrated place in Valley.
Substantiating his view the president JKVM BL Bhat said that already in Kashmir the different communities like Shias, Sikhs and Gujjars are living at a concentrated places when Government has no problem in this why does not it discuss such arrangements with the community leadership, he asked?

Pandits will not like to return in a hush -hush manner to be displaced again after a decade or so, said Bhat. The JKVM stands for return with retention as the community can't afford another migration now. ``We will definitely return to Kashmir on the conditions set by us'', he added and rejected the offer of Yasin Malik whose organisation has decided to hold a seminar in this regard in April .
Veer Saraf of RIK J&K while expressing his surprise over Malik's statement said that should the community trust a person who has spelt a doom for it by orchestrating a conspiracy against it that resulted into the mass exodus of minority Hindus from valley and later blamed Jagmohan the former Governor of the state for the same.
“The composite culture etc has no meaning for us as the community suffered an irreparable loss due to its mass exodus from Kashmir''said Saraf. What guarantee the community has that tomorrow another Malik and Geelani will not emerge on soil of Kashmir and dictate terms with the barrel of gun, he asked?
