The City police Tuesday claimed to have recovered as many as 133 stolen vehicles since start of 2010.
“Srinagar Police despite its engagements with restoration of law and order in the previous year has shown its full commitment in the eradication of criminal activities especially vehicle thefts. During the year 2010-11, police has solved 133 cases of vehicle thefts and succeeded in recovery of stolen vehicles worth Rs1, 04, 88,300,” said a police handout.
Giving police station wise details of the solved cases, the police said:
“Police Station Rajbagh recovered Toyota Vehicle worth Rs 3,00,000/= in case FIR No. 81/2010 U/S 379 RPC and an Auto worth Rs 1,25,000/= in case FIR No. 107/2010 U/S 379 RPC and accused Farooq Ahmad son of Abdul Gani was arrested.”
It added that the police station also “recovered truck along with fruits, property amounting to Rs. 07 lacs was recovered in case FIR No. 116/2010 U/S 379 RPC.”
“Police Station Sadder recovered Toyota worth Rs. 6,00,000/= in case FIR No. 20/2010 U/S 392, 364, 342 RPC and arrested accused Bilal Ahmad, Ajaz Ahmad and Muhammad Shafi sons of Ali Muhammad. Police Station also recovered one Santro worth Rs. 2,50,000/= in case FIR No 09/2010 U/S 379 RPC, a Zen worth Rs. 1,45,000/= in case FIR No. 08/2010 U/S 379 RPC and a Maruti worth Rs, 1,50,000/= in case FIR 208/2010 U/S 379 RPC.”
Police Station Shaheed Gunj has recovered three Maruti cars amounting to Rs 140000/= in case FIR No 05/2010, 08/2010 and 09/2010 U/S 379 RPC respectively and arrested M Ashraf, Mushtaq Ahmad both sons of Muhammad Sultan. A truck worth Rs 2,50,000/= was also recovered in case FIR no. 82/10 U/S 379.
Police Station Panthachowk recovered 180 bags of cement alongwith truck worth Rs 6,48,000/= in case FIR No. 14/2011 U/S 379/ RPC and arrested accused, Jan Muhammad Wagay son of Ghulam Muhammad, Reyaz Ahmad son of Farooq Ahmad, Feroz Ahmad son of Ghulam Ahmad, Reyaz Ahmad son of Muhammad Ramzan and Abdul Rashid son of Ghulam Muhammad.
Police Station Nowgam recovered one Swift worth Rs 6,00,000/= in case FIR no. 1/2010 U/S 379 and Maruti 800 worth Rs 2.00.000/= in case FIR no. 02/2011 U/S 379 and arrested Javaid Ahmad son of Ghulam Rasool.
