Srinagar: The Danish Parliament - the Folketing - will debate the current Kashmir situation at a special hearing in Copenhagen on May 4, 2011.
According to reports, the purpose of the hearing - being organised by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament - is "to enhance the general public awareness of the conflict and political situation in Kashmir among members of the Danish parliament and in the Danish public." It is also intended to discuss the security aspects of the Kashmir conflict.

The half-day long hearing will include basic introduction to Kashmir and a panel debate on "Kashmir in a regional security political context".
Kashmiri writer and analyst Arjimand Hussain Talib, who is among the invitees to the special event, is scheduled to speak on "Looking forward - visions for the future." It will be followed by a panel debate and political discussion.
