9 persons rescued by Army in Sonamarg

Army rescued nine persons including two missing employees of Sonamarg Development Authority from Shutkari village, Sonamarg.
Two SDA employees Mohammad Rafiq Raina son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Ganiwan and Syed Akbar Shah son of Inayat resident of Sumbal Bala, Kangan who were missing since yesterday after being trapped in heavy snowfall, had taken refuge in the abandoned house at Shutkari village, Sonamarg. T
he inhabitants of the Shutkari village migrate to other safer places with the advent of winter. As soon as Ganderbal police came to know about their presence of these missing persons in the village. A rescue team of Army was pressed into service in a chopper to Shutkari village, Sonamarg. Both the SDA employees were rescued and shifted to Ganderbal. Besides seven persons who were also trapped in the village were also rescued and evacuated to Ganderbal.
Local Police and the people of the area appreciated the role of Army in rescuing the trapped people.
