POTA court charges Yasin Malik in dollar case

A TADA court has charged Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik, guilty in one lakh dollar case.
However, Malik has pleaded that he isn’t guilty as the case was fabricated.
The case was registered against Malik after Kud police, on March 23, 2002, recovered one lakh US dollars from Shazia and one Mushtaq Ahmad Dar which according to police were to be delivered to the JKLF leader for carrying out alleged militant activities.

Third Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu Designated Counrt under POTA-2002, Sanjay Parihar has charged Malik of strengthening armed activity in Jammu and Kashmir. “In 2002, you convened meeting at JKLF Office Headquarter in which you authorized accused Mushtaq Ahmad Dar to go to Kathmandu (Nepal) and bring one lakh US dollars arrangement whereof had already been made, which had to be distributed amongst different militant organizations engaged in armed activities in J&K.”
“The accused Mushtaq Dar with Mst Shameema, brought one lakh US dollars from Katmandu to Delhi and on way to Srinagar on 24-03-2002 at 1420 hours while they were traveling in temp traveler No JK02M/0267 on way to Srinagar were found carrying seventy thousands and thirty thousands US dollars respectively, which were recovered from them by police party of P/S Kudh,” the judge observed.
“You, therefore have committed offence U/S 3/22 POTA, for which you are charged and the same is explained to you in the language known to you,” it added.
