2 CRPF men among 9 hurt
Srinagar, Dec 14: Two grenade explosions rocked South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday injuring at least nine persons including two CRPF men.
A police spokesman said suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade towards CRPF mobile bunker at Rajpora Chowk in Pulwama this afternoon. “Two CRPF men and five civilians including a woman sustained splinter injuries in the explosion and were rushed to a nearby hospital,” he said.

One of the injured civilian identified as Mohammad Yousuf Mir son of Abdullah Mir of Maspuna-Pulwama was referred to Bones and Joints Hospital, Srinagar for further treatment.
The other injured civilians were identified as Zubaida wife of Saif-u-din of Daramdara-Pulwama, Pervaiz Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad of Srinagar, Mehraj-din son of Ghulam Nabi of Payeen-Pulwama, Mohammad Shafiq son of Ghulam Mohammad of Bemina-Srinagar and Mohammad Yousuf Mir son of Abdullah Mir of Maspuna-Pulwama.
He identified the injured CRPF men as Head constable Anil Kumar and Constable Manoj Kumar of 182 bn CRPF.
The blast triggered panic in the area with people running helter skelter and shopkeepers pulling down shutters of their business establishments.
Later, police and CRPF men launched a combing operation in the area to flush out the militants responsible for the attack. However, no arrests were reported.
Meanwhile, suspected militants hurled a grenade towards a patrol party of police near Forest Check Post at Kakapora in Pulwama district this evening. “The grenade missed the intended target and exploded on a road causing injuries to two forest officials,” a police spokesman said.
He identified the injured persons as Fayaz Ahmad Haji son of Ghulam Mohidin of Hajipora, Pulwama and Gulzar Ahmad son of Ghulam Rasoool of Kakpora-Pulwama. “The injured were hospitalized,” he said.
A medical shop of Majeed Ahmad and a Maruti car (No. JK13A-5286) were also damaged in the blast.
No militant group has owned the responsibility of the grenade blasts.
After two grenade attacks, the security apparatus in entire South Kashmir especially in Pulwama township was beefed up. The police and paramilitary troopers have intensified patrolling and set up nakas at some sensitive places.
