Police foil JKLF’s attempt to hoist flag, Malik, Bilal, Shahid held

Police on Wednesday foiled the attempt of JKLF activists to hoist a flag at Clock Tower in Lal Chowk.
Nearly 30 JKLF activists led by their chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, senior Hurriyat (M) leaders Bilal Gani Lone and Shahid-ul-Islam appeared near Maisuma this afternoon and tried to march towards Clock Tower. However, policemen and paramilitary CRPF men who were deployed in strength in the area did not allow them to move ahead. “They (force personnel) snatched the flag from Malik and his associates and arrested them,” sources said.
They said arrested leaders along with 20 activists were lodged in Kothibagh Police Station.
Pertinently, Malik had dared BJP to hoist a tricolor at Clock Tower on January 26. Malik had said that JKLF would hoist a flag at Clock Tower on January 26 to counter BJP’s move. He had gone into hiding 2-days ago to evade arrest.
